Sam Miller

Sam Miller started creating bonsai pottery in the fall of 2015. He is most known to the bonsai community as a yamadori collector. However, he could never find enough pots to accommodate the trees Sam hauled out of the mountains. That and he also felt there was a lack of nice round pots available. After buying some really nice nanban-style pots by Jim Gremel, Sam thought, “maybe I could do that”. He set out to make his own pottery and immediately became obsessed with wheel thrown pottery. Sam enjoys slab building as well, but he is more proficient with the pottery wheel. Sam is known for his high fired oxide stained dark clay pots, always with reduction to bring out the metallic sheen.
