Sabri Ben-Achour

Sabri Ben-Achour been making ceramics since 1988, creating both functional and sculptural pieces. He creates unusual ceramics inspired by the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi—finding beauty in imperfection. He developed his own artistic method by mixing powerfully strong magnets into clay to create distinctive stalactite-looking “spindles.” However, he is not limited to this one technique. He also uses electroforming to incorporate copper crystals into some of his works as well as self-cracking clay to create irregular patterns. His diverse methods derive from his motivation to "unlock what the natural world has to show us" as he believes "people are primed to find beauty in the orderly disorder of nature.”
