Nick Weddell

Nicholas Weddell was born in Austin, Texas and is considered a rising star in American ceramics. He holds a Masters degree from the New York State College at Alfred University, a graduate of the Archie Bray Foundation residency program in the USA. His work is found in collections around the world. Ordinary household objects, routine moments, so to speak dull, become a festival of color, texture and distorted form, almost grotesque, under the hands of the artist. His professional roots are in wheel-throwing and are the basis for breaking the boundaries of clay with texture and color. Weddell infuses new meaning into these objects that might be provocative and invite the observer to enter his fatasy world.
