John Ruiz

John Ruiz is a ceramic artist based in Emory, Texas. A lifelong creative, John began his creative journey with musical expression, playing upright bass, then later picking up bass guitar, hand pan, wooden flute, and various other instruments as well as singing in ceremonial, meditative, and therapeutic settings and events. Next, he took a journey into mixology and flavor experimentation, creating unique and beautiful craft cocktails and menus for some well renowned spaces. Once he found ceramics in 2022, he knew he had found his medium and dove head first into learning every new technique he could, and still inspired, he keeps pushing boundaries in his expression of ceramic arts. John's work ranges from functional wares such as mugs, bowls, and teapots to sculpture and artistic vases using techniques new and old for glazing and firing, combining rustic fired pieces with sophisticated styles.
