Contemporary, Functional Ceramic Art Collection
Detroit Michigan native, Jeremy Myles began his ceramic journey by take his two dimensional drawings and translating them into three-dimensional forms. Handbuilding was his introduction into taking what he had envisioned on paper, and bring it to life through clay. With Jeremy's interest in making and altering clay growing, he took to wheelthrowing to expand the range of what he could achieve with clay.
As an artist I am always trying to learn and grow. My transition from handbuilding to wheel throwing is a product of that learning. Finding my passion has been a fascinating task that has taken me through a multitude of ups and downs. It has been a struggle doing what I love in life, but that's what makes it all worth it. Growing up with a creative Mother and a "Jack-of-all-trades" Father, my path was never clear when it came to having one set goal or interest. This ambiguity of direction lead me to create and grow a fondness for the process of creation across different mediums. I use my hands and tools to create and outwardly express my thoughts through art. My current goal is to take all that I learn and Integrate it into my art. It is my hope to give other a love and appreciation for clay, and to learn from everyone I teach.
