Contemporary, Functional Ceramic Art Collection
Since graduating from the Alberta University of the Arts (formerly ACAD) in 2007, Jenn Demke-Lange has been developing her creative professional career as a ceramic artist, illustrator, arts educator and arts administrator. Under the umbrella of Mikind, Jenn designs and produces ceramic based objects that layer hand-built ceramics with illustrations. She has exhibited her work both nationally and internationally. Since 2017, her art practice has expanded to include designing and producing illustrations for a variety of local clients including Tourism Medicine Hat, the Alberta Public Art Network, Elliot Home & Lifestyle and The Cellar Restaurant. In conjunction with her studio art practice, Jenn has worked with the Alberta Foundation of the Arts TREX Program, Southeast, as a Workshop Instructor and Lesson Plan Developer; creating an Education Guide for catalogue publications based on exhibition themes and concepts for their current cycle of travelling exhibitions. For the majority of her career, Jenn’s studio practice has been based out of Medalta — a unique communal ceramic based makers space located within a national historic clay district, home to a working Museum and International Artists-in-Residence Program. She maintained a position as the Residency Programs Studio Coordinator for a 10 year period. She is currently living in Medicine Hat where she continues to develop her now home-based art practice and is invested in contributing to the cultural content and dialogue within her community.
