Autumn Cipala

Autumn Cipala

Autumn Cipala is a ceramic artist living and working in mid-coast Maine. Originally from northeastern Pennsylvania, Autumn pursued a formal art school education at School of Visual Arts in New York City as a painting major and re-directed her focus to ceramics following her introduction to clay. Autumn holds a BFA from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University, and an MFA from University of Nebraska – Lincoln.

Autumn’s most recent body of work is in great part influenced by her experiences in Amizmiz, Morocco as a presenting artist of the Akal Exchange, and by her personal research of historical ceramic pieces in the reserve collections of the Freer and Sackler Galleries of the Smithsonian Institution and the Nelson Atkins Museum.
